The 6th International conference on Samoyedology will be held from the 8th to the 10th of September, 2016 in Moscow, Russia. Dedicated to the memory of Ariadna Kuznetsova (1932-2015), this conference will bring to together lexicographers, linguists, anthropologists, and folklorists whose research centers upon the group of Finno-Ugric languages spoken in Siberia and the Russian Arctic.

Samoyedic language researchers who are interested in presenting their work at this special event are asked to send in a scientific abstract of ca. 3,600 characters by the March 1st 2016. From the 3rd to the 4th of May, 2016, the Annual Conference of the Council of Geographical Names Authorities (COGNA) will be holding its conference in Reno, Nevada. Although the conference plan has not yet been finalized, according to the event organizers, the 2016 COGNA will feature a meeting of the U.S. Board of Geographic Names.

The Society for Low German Linguistic Research (Vereins für niederdeutsche Sprachforschung) will be holding it 129th annual meeting from the 16th to the 19th of May 2016 in Stendal, Germany.

With that goal in sight, the Society has officially opened its call for papers. Research papers dealing with the topics of historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and lexicography in Low German languages are welcome.

The special theme of the 2016 conference is new research methods for investigating the language and/or literature of low German (e.g. Narratology, multi-/ cross-media studies).

The International Society for Historical Lexicography and Lexicology (ISHLL), a scholarly society devoted to investigating the history of dictionaries and dictionary formation, will be holding it eighth annual conference in Bloomington, Indiana. The Dictionary of Medieval Names from European Sources will be holding special sessions on medieval cross-linguistic/cross-cultural onomastics at the Leeds International Medieval Congress, which is scheduled to take place from the 4th to the 7th of July 2016.

Researchers interested in presenting their work are encouraged to submit a100-200 word paper proposal no later than the 15th of September 2015 to eic[@]dmnes.org. In line with the multicultural focus of the planned sessions, proposed presentations may be held in several non-English languages including German, English, Spanish, French, and Italian. From the 27th to the 30th of January 2016, the 8th annual Global WordNet Conference (GWC) will be held in Bucharest, Romania. Organized by the Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence “Mihai Drăgănescu” of the Romanian Academy and the Global WordNet Association, this conference offers an international forum for discussing the latest research on wordnets.

Researchers and developers who are interested in presenting a paper are invited to visit the GWC website. The deadline for submission is September 6th, 2015.

From the 4th to the 6th of April 2016, an international symposium on Linguistic Landscapes and Superdiversity in the City will be held in Landau, Germany.

Conference organizers are now accepting abstracts that deal with the intersection between lexicography and landscapes. The deadline for abstract submission is the 15th of October 2015.

This annual symposium is sponsored by three German universities: Trier, Duisburg, and Landau. Together, this academia triad forms LAUD.

From the 16th to the 19th of March 2016, the Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS) will be holding its annual conference in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The conference will include a special panel on “Lexicography and the Classics.” The aim of this panel is to explore lexicographic innovations within the field of classics. Topics of interest include innovations in:

• electronic lexica
• medieval lexica and their reception
• connections between lexicography and pedagogy

From the 4th to the 7th of July 2016, the International Medieval Congress (IMC) will take place in Leeds, England. The IMC is one of the world’s largest gatherings of medieval conferences in the world. The focus of 2016 IMC is cross-linguistic naming during the Middle Ages. In particular, the conference will showcase onomastic research which explores the ways in which different medieval cultures, languages, and societies named the world around them.
